Amari Touray began his life journey in the wilderness of North America, in a place labeled the Deep South. As Sam Cooke sang in his masterpiece "A Change Is Gonna Come", Amari "was born by the river" in the city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The cordialness and humility of southern hospitality, along with the disparity and obvious deprivation of economics and resources birthed an attachment to improving the quality of life among all those desirous to see better. The spirit of Amari could not be contained within the confines of one geographic area or thinking, as his journey led him afar to the exposure of an entirely different world (within the same borders of the United States) of Long Beach, California; from the wooded jungle of the Deep South to the concrete jungle of the West Coast. From primarily a two ethnic inhabited environment to a wide array of all, this intrigued Amari and inspired the poem (which developed into his first album), "A Cultureless Culture". His observation of the various cultures in California and the historical events of Black Americans is what he feels led to a Culture-LESS Culture. Exposure and involvement to the "get down" of the streets, the banging, the loss of lives, the incarceration of many, the hustles, the demise of good people due to addiction, to the exposure of educators, ministers, military, Union Laborers; from the lower to middle socioeconomic bracket of existence birthed a leveled perspective. His journey led him from these locations back to the south, to Atlanta, Georgia, where he has been able to advance in many aspects. He travels to unique places and makes his home in all corners of the earth. If one were to ask, what word best describes him, the word balance is unveiled. A student of nature, studier of all walks of philosophies and lives, with a firm effort to adhere to the laws of the Universe, where harmony can be manifested.

One of the most intriguing lessons Amari learned occurred in an art class, where the teacher had all students sit around a sculptured table of fruit, books, flowers, vase, and other items. Each student drew the figure. Once complete the teacher posted all the drawings up for all to see. Although each student drew the same exact figure, each portrait appeared different. This impregnated the mind of Amari to respect and alter his perspective throughout life; maintaining an open mind to reality, where truth (although absolute) differs depending on the perspective and angle one is positioned. So he has been able to express himself through the universal language of art; not only offering his perspective but the viewpoints of others who may not have the ability to express themselves.
Artist
Amari has evolved in his viewpoint and imaginative creations. Through poetic delivery, he has molded his conscious skill into melodic expressions. He has three albums, “A Cultureless Culture”, Loyalty Over Greed”, and “Spiritual Drought”. He has several singles as well. He has two albums to be released soon; “Stand and Deliver” and “Incense Burning, vol. 1”. His vision continues to evolve as he has shifted his direction in a more harmonious styled expression. His musical influences are Tupac Shakur, Geto Boys, Outkast, Ali Farka Touré, Fela Kuti, Seu Jorge, Tim Maia, James Cleveland, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Norman Brown, Nas, Sleepy Brown, and Frankie Beverly & Maze (just to name a few).
Amari has also maintained his love to bring an empty canvas to life with drawings and paintings. Not one to profess himself as a professional painter, however he typically evolves a poem or song and transition the energy onto the canvas. Some of his most enjoyable works are “West End”, “Aint No Sunshine”, and “Pain is Temporary”. Although his favorite known artist is Romare Bearden, he intensely admires the typically unknown street artists and muralists.

Author
Amari will be
the first to let you know he does not title himself an author, however he has published two books. The first one is entitled “Point Blank, Perspective of a Straightshooter vol. 1”, which are published articles from perps in the Metro Atlanta area. He received such great feedback and brought about dialogue, receiving inspiration to organize it in book format. The second book is fiction novel, based on true events called “Raindrops To a River”. This book has sold out however more are here for your purchase.
Writer
As stated in the origin of his first book, Amari enjoys offering a perspective via writing, which may not be the most acceptable or politically correct. However, his objective and goal is to engage minds through sparking dialogue on subjects many would possibly avoid. With the objective being peace, Amari is aware that avoiding subjects doesn’t remove them, as they only get swept under the rug until we have to deal with them unexpectedly.
Visionary
Preguntas y contestas . Amari believes where there are questions, there are answers; if the answer is not present, develop a solution. In a time of darkness and chaos, panic is not needed. More confusion is not productive. A calm, informed, and solution driven person with vision is needed. Lead by faith while developing realistic and measurable goals is what Amari firmly believes to be the key to the ills of our society and world. He also is aware that self-improvement and being self-accountable is the first key and answer to all our developmen
